Have you ever wanted to record your car races, offroading rides or drifts?

Our own Mark Zealand shows you his tips for using a suction mount to record high speed action from you car using an iPhone and the Hitcase Pro.

So you just received your first Hitcase, congratulations! You have just insured that your prized iPhone will stay safe and dry while you take on the world! Or at least getting to the other side of the road in order to reach the freckled faced kid selling ridiculously expensive lemonade.

The point is the Hitcase has you (iPhone) covered.

The moment you receive your Hitcase you may take a deep breath of relief to see that it’s not in one of those ridiculously loud and cheap plastic packaging. We actually took far to long to come up with a box that will allow you to transport your Hitcase and mounts  in a magnetic closing reusable box.  Sweet!

The first thing you do after opening the box is of course remove the Hicase.

When you flip the case over you will see a label on the back. This is a reminder to visit our site and watch the short quick start guide video. Remove the sticker and the clear film that covers your screen protector.

Getting  your iPhone in and out

In order to open this black beauty you will need to follow these simple steps..

With the camera side facing towards the ground, open all three side of the case from top to bottom preferably using two thumbs to pop, index fingers to support. The case should then open like a book inviting your iPhone to jump in and get aquatinted. You will notice how the shock seal hugs the phone. It’s now time to close the case. Flip the case over in your hand with the screen facing upwards once again. Squeeze with your thumbs and middle fingers while at the same time closing the latches with your index fingers. Squeeze and pop! You should get the hang of it after a few tries.

 Railslide Mount

Once the case has been removed you will notice a separate level housing your new GoPro compatible Railslide Mount with Tripod Adapter. We’re very proud of this mount. Easy in, easy out.

In order to mount your Hitcase, simply line up the rail slide with the rails on the case and slide until you hear a solid “click”. Removing just takes a little more muscle. Try using your thumb on the lever located under the railslide. It may be a little tough at first but you’ll get it. The Tripod adapter combined with the railslide mount will open ALL KINDS OF MOUNTING POSSIBILITIES!! the last four words are all in capitals because this is kind of a big deal.

Wrist Strap

You will also notice a wrist strap that you insert through the top left hand corner on the Hitcase. The wrist strap will cinch down on your wrist allowing you to be worry free during a log rolling competition… or whatever else is as common on the water.

Extra Audio Port Plug! Just in case down the road it gets a little worked in and you prefer it on the stiff side.

Why Vidometer?

Before we developed the Hitcase we were already shooting action videos. When the time came to create an outdoor worthy case for the iPhone we had a total video solution in mind. Improvements:
- Listen to music while recording! Simply go to the app settings and set Audio = OFF. This will mean your recorded clips will have no audio, but now you can listen to your favourite tunes while recording.
- Audio for playback on Windows computers is improved. We are using a different audio codec now to fix some audio issues in recorded videos.
- High quality output mode for professional video producers. We have a new Video setting that will produce the highest quality video for you to transfer to your computer. Beware, the file sizes in this mode are huge!
- Improvements to the focus modes. The app will now lock focus once recording has started. Before starting recording, just tap the screen to set the focus, then hit record!

The companion to the ShockSeal, covered in our previous post is the ShockPad. While the ShockSeal provides shock and water protection for the front and sides of the iPhone, the ShockPad keeps your iPhone securely in place and safe from impact while providing a 100% watertight seal for the phone.

The high tech looking grooves on the ShockPad are not there just for show. The V shaped grooves are designed to provide spring, compressing to absorb shocks, blocking strikes from penetrating the back of the iPhone case.

Three channels cut into the grooves are air channels to push moisture away from the case and flatten out when pressure is applied. No other case considers air moval into account. The Hitcase ShockPad is designed this way to avoid fogging.
