What happens if I break my Hitcase?

We warranty Hitcase for defects in manufacturing for 6 months from date of sale. Regardless, please get in touch with us, and we'll figure out together with you the best way to get you rolling again. We want your undying love and admiration, which means we’ll probably do nice things for you. That being said if you Padonk yourself off a cliff and land on your Hitcase, that's probably not a warranty situation. See our Warranty page for more details.

How waterproof is Hitcase?

Hitcase is rated IP68, as defined in International Standard IEC 60529, and is the most rigorous classification. This rating means that Hitcase offers complete dust protection and is suitable for continuous immersion in water at a depth of up to 10 meters (33 feet) for up to 30 minutes. We have done extensive testing with many iPhones, and environments both simulated and real. We designed Hitcase to be a super bomber product to help you get the most out of your adventures. Be careful to follow the instructions for how to keep your Hitcase in tiptop form and use your judgement and common sense in every situation. If you are concerned that your Hitcase isn't ready to hit the water, make sure you take your iPhone out of it, and do a test first. (Click here to see us run a test)

How does Hitcase stack up against other cameras on the market?

Better! That's what we think anyway, but we think you should be the judge. While Hitcase is much more than just a POV camera, we think it stands up well against purpose specific devices. The iPhone has an amazing camera and software, and Hitcase Pro has some wicked Pro optics. You're solid. (click here for a comparison)

How much wider is the field of view?

Using the Free Vidometer™ App with Hitcase Pro for iPhone 5/5S, you will get 3X the standard field of view (FOV). When using Hitcase Pro for iPhone 4, you'll get about 2X the normal FOV. We wanted to balance both the Video aspects by giving both verions of the Hitcase Pro a much wider overall FOV, but also the Photo side of things because we take lots of pictures too! Going much wider, i.e. using a fisheye optic would make our photos look pretty squirrelly, so we went with the balanced approach. Note: iPhone 4 cannot take advantage of the Vidometer enhanced FOV, but still kicks butt in about 742 other ways, so no worries.

How hot or cold will the case allow me to go?

Hitcase will operate anywhere your iPhone will operate, temperature-wise. Apple says:

  • Operating ambient temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
  • Non-operating temperature: −4° to 113° F (−20° to 45° C)
  • Relative humidity: 5% to 95% non-condensing

We say the same except for the humidity part. No issues there! Real world we used Hitcase at below −10 degrees C (14°F) and although the iPhone is short on battery life, everything works ok. If it's really cold outside, your iPhone may shut itself off after a while because the battery isn't getting enough power to the computer bits. Your experience may vary.

What height can the Hitcase safely drop from?

Hitcase meets and exceeds Military Standard 810F-516 which describes what is called functional drop. It covers the requirements for rough service environments the military frequently encounters. While we don’t recommend you go dropping your iPhone, we will say that our Chief Everything Officer (CEO) Brooks has dropped his iPhone in a Hitcase at least 100 times from more than 5 ft (no really, he used his own phone for testing) and he’s still using it. Hitcase is designed to absorb the shock of the fall, in some situations a latch can pop loose, but your iPhone will be A-OK.

Can it handle paintball?

Can you? Maybe you can hide behind your Hitcase. We've built Hitcase to take a beating so your iPhone stays safe. Though we don't recommend shooting from point blank range, that's just not cool.

What does the warranty cover?

If you run into a problem with your Hitcase your next call should be us. We want you to have a great relationship with your Hitcase and will go above and beyond to make that happen. We don’t buy new iPhones though, so stay sharp out there! Check out our detailed Warranty information here.

Is there a lens cap for Hitcase Pro?

Yes, you can purchase a 2 pack of lens caps for the Hitcase Pro/5 and Hitcase Pro/4 here.

How can I clean my Hitcase?

You can use a mild soap and warm water to make your Hitcase look shiny and new. You can field strip your Hitcase to make it easier and get a deeper clean. Ya. Deeper. Be careful to not use anything abrasive, especially on the lens, and we recommend you rinse the lens heavily with water to make sure there is no grit or sand on it before wiping it down to avoid scratching the lens area.

Is the lens fragile?

The glass lens on the Hitcase Pro/5 has high tech anti-scratch and anti-glare coatings and the lens covers on the Hitcase and Hitcase Pro for iPhone 4/4S are made of polycarbonate with a hard coat. While these coatings are pretty tough, don't go testing them with a screwdriver. In practice we’ve gotten long life out of our own personal Hitcases without worrying about it. Your iPhone will still take pretty amazing video and pictures with a fair amount of marring on the lens, but if you ever want to replace it, no problem! We designed Hitcase to have easily replaceable parts and we have a lens kit that is just the ticket. Click here.

How do I water test my Hitcase?

Take your iPhone out of the Hitcase. Put tissue paper where your iPhone would be, make sure its not sandwiched between the Shock Seal. Close the Hitcase. Put it in about 18 inches of water for 20 minutes. Use something to weigh it down to keep your Hitcase at the bottom (not a toaster). Take the Hitcase out of the water, completely dry off the outside. Open the Hitcase, if the tissue is dry, you’re ready to Rock n’ Roll. If you’re going to go deeper and send it harder we’d say take it with you on an escapade first. We test every Hitcase at the factory. To learn more, check out our Water Testing Tutorial Video.

Can I charge my iPhone while mounted?

Nope. It’s a waterproof case, so that means no holes for chargers. Good thing you can get your iPhone out in LESS THAN THREE SECONDS. Our man on the western front MarkZ is the current record holder at 1.976 seconds. See if you can beat him. If you can, he’ll kiss you. Too bad for you.

Is there an arm band?

Ya, we call them Hitcase POWERBANDS and they're available here for a price, or if you call us and sweet talk us (we like to be sweet talked) and you might get one gratis. If you meant a Railslide™ Arm band accessory, the answer is no. If you tell us you want one though, we might get the elves working on it for you. Let us know here.

Is Hitcase compatible for Android, iPod, iPhone 5c or iPhone 3G?

We are working on the Hitcase Adventure that is compatible with the iPhone 5c. Go Here to sign up for email updates. For the other devices, the short answer is "Nope". We do not have Hitcase for Android or iPod. While, we love the iPhone 3G, the march of technology rolls on and the video quality ain't so good on older models.

What do I need to mount it to my bike?

You can use the MotoR Mount or TubulR Mount. Get 'em here.

Will I be able to talk and listen on the phone clearly?

Yes. It's quieter than your iPhone would be without a Hitcase, but you shouldn’t have any issues. In loud rooms with lots of background noise, and depending on your age, how much loud Metal you listen to, and other subjective factors; you may want to pop your iPhone out of the case.

Can I hear my iPhone ring while inside Hitcase?

It's quieter. We recommend you turn Vibration on. It might help to have a higher pitched ring tone as well.

What is the return policy?

If you are unhappy with your Hitcase it's likely your Hitcase is also unhappy and we’re not happy with either of those scenarios. If it’s within 60 days of your purchase and you bought it from Hitcase.com then give us a call to arrange the return, and get needed info from us. If you bought from a retailer, kindly get in touch with them and they'll arrange things. You can read our Return Policy here.

How much are import/duty fees for international shipping?

You can get an estimate on import tax and duty for delivery in your country here.

What headphones can I use with Hitcase?

The removable audio port plug has a diameter of 7/32" (5.6mm) allowing use with any headphones that have a suitable sized plug, including the headphones that came with your iPhone.

Can you use your Headphones under water?

Nope. As soon as you open the Audio Port, the case is not deemed waterproof. You can definitely listen to music in regular non-water adventures though!

Is there a belt or Holster mount?

Not yet, but we're always working on new accessories to help you get the most out of your Hitcase. Check back often to see what's new!
